Inside the Lyra
A closer look at the architecture, controls, and configuration of LYRA.
— ARCHITECTURE —
A dual-6V6 platform built around
two distinct Deluxe-era voices.
two distinct Deluxe-era voices.
LYRA is a 20-watt, fixed-bias, Class AB amplifier powered by two 6V6 tubes and a tube rectifier. Channel 1 reflects the warmth and immediacy of the 1962 brown panel Deluxe, while Channel 2 draws from the clarity and control of the 1965 black panel Deluxe. Each path remains fully tube-driven, with a shared spring reverb and integrated attenuation system.
— CHANNELS & CONTROLS —
Two channels, each with its own
approach to feel and control.
approach to feel and control.
Channel 1 — Brown Panel Voice
A simplified control layout built around volume and tone. The response is immediate and touch-sensitive, with a natural transition into breakup as the amp is pushed.
Channel 2 — Black Panel Voice
A more expanded control set with treble, middle, and bass. Greater headroom and clarity, with the ability to shape the response more precisely across a wider range.
Master Section
Global spring reverb and VENUE MODE attenuation are accessible from the master section, allowing both channels to share the same ambient space and volume behavior.
— REVERB & VOLUME MANAGEMENT —
Shared ambience.
Controlled output.
Controlled output.
LYRA combines a full tube-driven spring reverb with integrated VENUE MODE attenuation, allowing both channels to operate within the same ambient space while adapting the amp to different performance environments.
Tube-Driven Spring Reverb
The reverb circuit is shared globally across the amplifier, so either channel can sit within the same spacious, tube-driven spring reverb field. This makes it possible to access the warmth of the brown-panel channel with an ambient character more commonly associated with later black-panel designs.
VENUE MODE Attenuation
VENUE MODE allows LYRA to operate at 20 watts, 12 watts, or 5 watts. Each setting is configured to preserve the amp’s response and feel, so the relationship between player and amplifier remains consistent as overall output is reduced.
— CABINET & CONSTRUCTION —
Built as an instrument,
not just an enclosure.
not just an enclosure.
LYRA is available as a compact head or a 1×12 combo, with each format designed to maintain the same response and feel. Cabinet construction and component selection are chosen for stability, resonance, and long-term reliability.
Cabinet & Materials
LYRA enclosures are built from high-grade, void-free Italian poplar plywood, selected for its lightweight strength, consistency, and musical resonance. The cabinet remains easy to move while contributing to a more responsive and connected playing experience.
Speaker & Format
The 1×12 combo is fitted with an Eminence GA-SC64 speaker, selected for its balance of clarity, warmth, and low-end control. Head and combo formats share the same amplifier platform and tonal response.
Build & Assembly
Each LYRA is hand-built in Minneapolis, Minnesota, using custom-wound transformers and a construction approach designed for serviceability and long-term performance.
